Mechanics Helper

Energy Service - Youngstown, OH - Full Time

Field Mechanic’s Helper:  

The field mechanic’s helper will assist the Field Service Technician with reassembly and commissioning, start-up and repair of Natural Gas Compressor Packages. 

Core Requirements

  • Be a self- starter that is willing to learn, is punctual and hardworking, and has a strong emphasis on safety.
  • Possess mechanics hand tools and be familiar with their use.
  • Maintain a valid unrestricted driver’s license with clean driving/legal history.
  • Travel overnight weekly and must work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload.
  • Must have ability to stand and walk on uneven and varied terrain, climb ladders and stairs; and stoop, squat, kneel, crouch and crawl depending on the task requirements.
  • Be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.  Working conditions in natural gas compression vary from one job site to another.  Some job sites are indoors in compressor stations while other sites are outside.
  • Has technical knowledge and interpersonal skills typically gained through completion of technical school or other related experience.
  • Read and comprehend written technical information in the form of technical manuals, parts books, and relevant publications is essential.
  • Age 21+

New Hire Trainee Phase

Is introduced to the rules, regulations, policies, requirements and conditions working on safety sensitive oil and gas sites through the experience of the supervising field service technician. Demonstrates the knowledge and proper use of the mechanic’s hand tools.  Demonstrates a clear understanding of the safety rules.  Builds trust with the supervising field service technician. Is learning the vital tasks necessary to assist the Field Service Technician with reassembly and commissioning, start-up and repair of Natural Gas Compressor Packages. 

Developing Career Phase

Has a solid understanding and is applying Dearing Best Practices.  Has a solid understanding of the tools required to perform the work.  Is retaining the knowledge of the vital tasks necessary to assist the Field Service Technician with reassembly and commissioning, start-up and repair of Natural Gas Compressor Packages. Functions on their own for simple tasks and demonstrates the ability to comprehend more difficult work.

Shop Onboarding Phase

Has demonstrated the mechanical aptitude and professional conduct to begin the training program for the Gas Field Service Technician.
