Summary
Performs initial assembly steps of compressor packages by mounting the compressors and engine combination to skids by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Studies blueprints and other specifications to determine proper positioning of compressors and engines on skids.
- Verifies requirements such as dimensions and squareness.
- Determines reference points and computes layout dimensions.
- Performs leveling of the skids.
- Lays out location of the sub-base.
- Pours concrete on skid in area for compressor mounting.
- Uses crane to mount compressor and aligns with sub-base.
- Builds dikes to hold epoxy material, forming a base for the compressor footing.
- Levels compressor with a Brunson transit.
- Uses heat to grow compressor coupling and installs on compressor.
- Uses crane to mount engine to sub-base and installs coupling on engine.
- Aligns engine with compressor using Optoline laser and connects using coupling.
- Cleans, inspects and installs pressure vessels on the skid to prepare for piping.
- Works to tolerances as specified in drawings.
- Adds dimensional details to blueprints or prepares dimensional drawings to be followed by other workers.
- Able to use inside/outside micrometers, calipers, and read/measure to the nearest thousandth.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

The exposure in the office areas are typical and plant operations areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection. In the plant area, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. Temperature of manufacturing work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining operations. The employee is occasionally exposed to odors, airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the manufacturing area is usually loud. The noise level in the office is usually quiet. During occasional trips into the field, there may be other exposures beyond those stated due to field conditions.
